rob: yes. i feel like $5. jillian: coming back. just kidding. you are watching "fox and friends first" on wednesday morning. rob: thanks for starting the day with us, donald trump inviting congressional leaders to the white house to make a deal on immigration. jillian: as homeland security clashes with more migrants storming the border. garrett tenney live with the latest. >> reporter: happy new year. top leaders from both parties are expected to be at the white house for briefing on border security. this will be the first face-to-face meeting between democratic leaders and donald trump since the shutdown began. in a letter to fellow lawmakers tuesday nancy pelosi said democrats plan a fantastic pair of bills to end the shutdown. without funding the president's wall. on twitter she brushed aside donald trump's invitation to make a deal saying real donald trump is giving democrats a great opportunity to show how we will govern responsibly. to end the irresponsible trump

heather: welcome back. republicans hand over control of the house tomorrow as the government shutdown enters its second week. rob: nancy pelosi is ready to pass a funding package but without money for any wall. is there a chance to make a deal? jillian: here is republican strategist chris turner. will this get done? >> america hopes so. the posturing happening from nancy pelosi is related to the speaker vote she will endure tomorrow. once that is done we could get back to business. the president is ready to make a deal. when she was on vacation in hawaii this past week she had a tragedy in her backyard in newman, california, we lost officer ronil singh. the accused murderer in that case, and undocumented

immigrants, the criminal gang, it happened in her backyard. i'm hopeful once the speaker vote is done, and the funeral on saturday, she goes to that and sees that family, hold that 5-month-old boy who will never know his father because of policy but she has backed over the years, it has got to change her part. i think her attending the funeral will do more to move the agenda forward than anything else. rob: invited to this meeting, heavy hitters, nancy pelosi, mccarthy, scalise on the right as well. lindsey graham is doing something like a $5 billion wall deal giving work permits for the

dreamers. we are going back to that dreamers for the wall idea a year ago. >> it is a good deal, the american people agree it is a good deal. the president offered it up sometime ago. the only thing i'm hearing from the democratic side is border security, just not actual border security. i'm a native texan. i live in the swamp but i'm not from the swamp so i know about the story of the wall in el paso. we built 131 miles of wall 2006-2010 in el paso. this is a see that borders a war zone. when you saw the wall is completed, undocumented or illegal border crossings dropping 89%, property crimes dropping 37%, violent crime down 6%.

surprise, huge sequel to unbreakable. i watched unbreakable which is amazing, very excited. it came out january 18th, i am very excited about that. jillian: i got left out of this conversation. what is up? >> if you can, go back and watch unbreakable and split, a cool tie in. jordan peel's return to filmmaking, get out was a masterpiece in filmmaking where he foreshadowed things in that film. us looks really crazy. the idea based on trailers is a family is being hunted and hunted by their evil doppelgängers. the trailer starts with a callback to a classic hip-hop song called i got 500 and it gets slowed down.

jordan peel, people call him the modern-day hitchcock. he is a phenomenal director and writer and i cannot wait to see what happens on march 15th. did you see that? jillian: for the record never start a sentence with jillian, have you seen? the answer is always no. >> from now on. rob: let's talk about of ventures. >> i cannot wait for this. avengers infinity war, the rooster brothers who directed avengers infinity war are working in the marvel cinematic universe. they did captain america civil war, captain america winter soldier, infinity war, avengers and end game. this trailer is perfect because they didn't give away too much. i won't spoil it, the movie made $2 billion in 2018 worldwide and had a very tragic end with josh born's character but i won't give away what happens but i'm excited to see what happens post infinity war.

jillian: i have seen pulp fiction. that leads to the next film. >> you just completely redeemed your self. pulp fiction one of my favorite movies of all time. tarantino is one of my favorite directors ever. this movie looks intriguing. the crazy part is there is no trailer for this movie, no video for this film. justin photos released on leonardo dicaprio's instagram and margot robbie, 1969 los angeles during the time period of charles manson, the helter-skelter time period. his stunt double is brad pitt as the actor in that film as well and margot robbie playing sharon tate. i cannot wait to see what tarantino does, this opens in august. there are so many movies i'm excited about, my 5 most anticipated. looking forward to talking to you about the movies in 2019. jillian: thank you.

america? the stock market has an indication of what is going forward. it makes people feel uncomfortable when the stock market is down. what makes the difference how the economy is going, this economy is doing well. people start to fear when they see the stock market go lower. rob: what are you doing with your clients money? what moves are you trying to make? what is the word on the street? >> american equity is a place to be. we went to overwait a little bit. understanding that we as the democrat congress and republican presidential republican senate is a risk and we talk about that. rob: don't market like when both sides are represented and there's a stalemate? >> it is important but we have seen a lot of success in the administration, now there's a real question how it continues to be. rob: we will see about that.

justice seems to think that is fine. we have a basic problem of stopping people at the border because the chief justice and the ninth circuit has become so politicized the trump administration couldn't get a fair hearing on just about anything right now. jillian: anything else in this proposed freezone plan you would add or take away from to make it beneficial for the us? >> there is not much we can do because it is a mexican initiative and also limits to what they can do to encourage people along the border. we had border zones like this before, and after in the 80s. there is positive effect on migration. let's face it, manufacturing isn't the central element of the us economy that once was and it limits how many jobs you can create this way so we should be clear this is an olive branch to the trump administration from
